Elevated Dialogues Style
So, for most of my life, I grew up with the white side of my family.. (still learning about our Indian roots too) However, that where I experienced a lot of love, support, & the foundation that shaped me.Real talk 💯
Aside from the struggles that addiction brought into my family , I still felt a lot of love from the people who raised me 🗣️
Then moving down South to Carolina, I met some amazing people, & got the chance to connect with the Black side of my family
In a way I felt more connected to that part of my identity bc it was something I was discovering & didn’t fully know before, if that makes sense… 😭😭
But I also experienced moments where most people from that side of my family never reached out.. especially recently !!! That shit hurts lowkey. Shit disappoints me fr.. even friends 💯
I know I’m grown asf. I don’t expect people to carry my problems for me, But come on.. I reached out & was met with silence 🦗.. No reply.. Never checked in on me. Never reached out
And honestly if one of you reading this now and feel away
please don’t hit me up now just because things changed.
I’m not looking for fake love or forced support.
I’m not with the fake.
Anyway, Moving here changed my whole perspective . It made me study patterns of people , the way energy shifts & how quickly some mfs can become strangers after you showed love to em!!! Crazyyy
But those moments taught me a lot💯
Don’t ever let someone’s change in behavior make you question YOURSELF 🫱🏽🫲🏼🫱🏻🫲🏿
I’ve watched addiction change people I love, I’ve watched it dim their light, their energy, & parts of who they were, but I always saw the genuine person underneath and I saw that it is just the unhealed trauma!!!
Addiction can really dilute someone’s image , but it doesn’t erase their worth.
I’m speaking from my own experiences, from growing up around it, & from seeing people I love go through battles that a lot may never see or they do see.
But I also realized , No matter how deep someone’s struggle gets , there is still a beautiful person beneath the surface. Who is always worth fighting for.
& sometimes blood doesn’t always equal closeness, sometimes the people you expect to show up won’t always be the ones who do & THATS OKAY 💯
We ALL have a deeper story than what people see on the surface.
